This document outlines the delivery requirements to have your film screened in an NYU Festival such as First Run.
Export Options
It is essential that you export your film in accordance with the following specifications. If you do not submit an export that meets the following requirements, your film may not be screened in the festival.
Audiovisual File
If you do not have a DCP of your film, you may upload a high-quality audiovisual file that satisfies the following criteria:
File Name
The file name must contain the film title, followed by the director’s first and last name. Separate each with an underscore to create the following structure:
- Title_FirstName_LastName (e.g. EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce_The_Daniels.mov)
The file name may only contain letters (English alphabet only), numbers, and underscores.
Resolution
Any of the following resolutions are acceptable:
- 1920x1080
- 2048x1080
- 3840x2160
- 4096x2160
If your film is not natively in one of these formats, you must export it with the necessary pillarboxing or letterboxing baked-in.
Frame Rate
Either of the following frame rates are acceptable:
- 23.976
- 24.00
Codec and Wrapper
Any combination of the following codecs and wrappers are acceptable:
- Acceptable codecs
- H.264
- H.265
- ProRes (recommended)
- DNxHR (recommended)
- Acceptable wrappers
- .MOV
- .MXF (Op1A only, no Op-Atom)
Audio
The required audio settings are:
- Audio Channel Format: Stereo (Left, Right)
- 48 kHz and 24 bit-depth are recommended, though 44.1 kHz sample rate and 16 bit-depth will be accepted.
Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs)
If you already have a DCP of your film, you may submit that for screening in an NYU Festival. Any correctly authored, DCI-compliant DCP will be accepted.
