TrueNAS - Mounting

This guide describes how to mount the TrueNAS server from multiple sources.

Mounting the TrueNAS from the TV Studios

To mount the TrueNAS from a computer on the Industry City network:

  1. Launch Finder.
    Finder application selected in the dock.
  2. Press Cmd + K.The Connect to Server pop-up window.
  3. In the Connect to Server pop-up window, enter the following:
    1. smb://172.22.130.23The server address answer field with the server address typed in.
  4. Click Connect.
    The connect button highlighted.
  5. When prompted, enter the credentials.

  6. In the pop-up window, select a studio you wish to connect to.

  7. Click Ok.The Ok button selected.

Mounting the TrueNAS from an outside computer (MacOS).

To mount the TrueNAS on a computer not on the Industry City network:

  1. Connect to the NYU VPN.
  2. Launch Finder.Finder application selected in the dock.
  3. Press Cmd + K.The Connect to Server pop-up window.
  4. In the Connect to Server pop-up window, enter the following:
    1. smb://172.22.130.23The server address answer field with the server address typed in.
  5. Click Connect.The connect button highlighted.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. When prompted, enter the credentials.

  8. In the pop-up window, select a studio you wish to connect to.Studio A selected in the pop-up window.
  9. Click Ok.The Ok button selected.

To save your files from the TrueNAS to your local storage:

  1. Select your files.Four video files selected.
  2. Press Cmd + C.The options pop-up menu with the Copy button selected.
  3. Navigate in Finder to your local storage.
    The student folder selected in personal local storage.
  4. In the local storage folder you'd like to save the files to, press Cmd + V.The copy/paste action pop-up window.

Mounting the TrueNAS from an outside computer (Windows OS).

To mount the TrueNAS on a computer not on the Industry City network:

  1. Connect to the NYU VPN.
  2. Launch File Explorer.The File Explorer application launched from the start menu.
  3. Select This PC  from the left side menu.
    The My PC option selected from the left side menu.
  4. From the top of the page, select Map Network Drive.

  5. In the pop-up window, enter the following in the Folder answer field:
    1. \\172.22.130.23\The Connect to Server pop-up window with the server address entered in the answer field.
  6. After the backslash, enter the share name for the studio you would like to access:
    1. studio_a
    2. studio_The server address with the Studio A share name at the end of the server address.
  7. Below the answer field, check the box for Reconnect at Sign-In and Connect Using Different Credentials.
    The Reconnect at Sign-In and Connect Using Different Credentials boxes checked.
  8. Click Finish.The Finish button selected.
  9. When prompted, enter the credentials.

  10. Click Finish.
    The Ok button selected.

To save your files from the TrueNAS to your local storage:

  1. Select your files.Four video files selected.
  2. Press Ctrl + C.The options pop-up menu with the Copy button selected.
  3. Navigate in File Explorer to your local storage.

  4. In the local storage folder you'd like to save the files to, press Ctrl + V.The copy/paste action pop-up window.
